Future Technology Plans for UET Combining Sensor Technologies for Open Water Remediation Applications

UET Plans to Continually Look for Renewable Energy Opportunities at Remediation Sites

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better" - Albert Einstein

Universal Environmental Technologies salutes the historic figures depicted on this page as pioneers in mans understanding and awareness of the natural sciences, the environment, and appropriate environmental government control. Depicted on this page are Albert Einstein, Ansel Adams, John Muir, and Teddy Roosevelt.

UET's goal is to continue to develop "Innovative Environmental Technologies in Pursuit of a Cleaner Safer Environment"

UET specializes in providing appropriate site-specific technologies, solutions, and integrations to complex environmental problems.

UET strives to always stay in front of the curve regarding new innovations which improve the cost and efficiency of our systems. UET does this by always asking "how can we do this better and what else can we integrate that will make our system more effective?"

What follows are examples of custom, unique, or proprietary solutions and technologies deployed by UET. In addition, third part integrations are also discussed.

To learn about UET Systems that deploy these technologies go to our Solutions Page

Technologies

Horizontal Wells

UET has deployed horizontal wells for the remediation of heavy oils. Horizontal wells create large open areas for product collection. Since heavy oil by nature is attracted to, and seeks out, large porress areas horizontal wells are ideal and is a proven effective method of heavy oil remediation .

ProVac Down Well Units (DWUs)

UET's DWUs are manufactured in our machine shop. The DWU is a canister of appropriate diameter as needed for the well and application. Containing many of EUT's sensor technologies they provide a detection, collection, and transport vessel for free product extraction.

ProVac DWU Sensors and Floats:

UET's exclusive ProVac sensors detect the presence of light weight oils, use vacuum to fill the down well unit (DWU) canister with product only, then when the canister full sensor is triggered (and signals that no water is present) the system switches from vacuum to pressure for extraction of product only or single phase extraction (SPE). These ProVac sensors can also be configured via PLC controls to achieve more traditional dual phase extraction (DPE) if this better suites the needs of your site.

In addition, ProVac sensors allow the user to detect and understand the current conditions in the well (how much product, water, and at what levels) and determine the optimal placement of the DWU for best SPE results.

All ProVac systems deploy these sensors regardless of system size. ProVac sensors are found in our portable Mini Remediation Systems (MRS), our trailers, and our large scale fixed systems.

UET manufactures the ProVac sensors, and canisters. This allows us to customize the sensors, PLC, and DWU size to meet your sites specific needs. We also build the entire ProVac system ourselves. This makes spare parts only a phone call away and can usually be shipped or transported the same day.

ProBailer DWU's

UET's ProBailer DWU is a canister that houses detection sensors, a submersible pump and a collection chamber. UET manufactures the DWU and can make them whatever size your site requires.

ProBailer Sensors

UET's Probailer sensors are strictly for detection of product. They cause a submersible pump to start and run until the sensor detects water, then turns the pump off until oil is detected again.

Viscous Oil Detection Sensors (VODS)

UET's exclusive VODs sensors and systems are used in heavy oil applications. These sensors are designed and accessorized to meet the special requirements of heavy oil remediation. The sensors deploy different technology for detection than those in ProVac in order to increase accuracy and reliability. The DWU's are enhanced to include methods of heating, such as steam, microwaves, ultrasonics or heating rods to reduce the viscosity and facilitate remediation.

For the same reasons and with the same benefits mentioned above in the ProVac description, UET manufactures the VODs and DWU to decrease your cost, create more options, and increase down time by quickly providing spare parts.

Technology Integration Options

Solar Power Integration

UET offers solar powered options on some of our systems. This is particularly helpful when your site is remote, no power source currently exists, or when using a portable system and site conditions vary.

PLC Control Integration

UET offers and in some cases requires PLC control for there remediation equipment. What varies is the degree of customization, reporting, and on going control you desire.

Remote Monitoring and Control Integration

UET offers PC remote monitoring and control integrations. This requires an on-site PC and connectivity via modem and dedicated phone line or internet connection. Several PC applications can be integrated to allow you to take over complete control of the on-site PC that is connected to your PLC. This can save thousands in on-site visits for you and your customers.

Future Technology Plans for UET

UET plans to combine these two technologies (ProVac and VODS) into one unit to better meet the needs of the groundwater remediation industry and also apply the combined technology for use in heavy oil open water remediation applications.

Other Technology Development Plans

UET founder Harold Solomon, is very interested in alternative energy solutions. Many times UET is consulted in landfill projects containing organic matter. Harold would like to investigate and take advantage of these sites potential to become a source of alternative energy. Nashua's Mohawk Tannery is a possible candidate for development. The Tannery's landfill is believed to contain animal hides.

In another example, while some of the product we remove from groundwater are toxic and not re-usable, we believe some large percentage may be re-usable as an energy source and UET is beginning to investigate opportunities to do so.
